Best night ever: Taylor Swift is Entertainer of the Year

I must confess, I didn’t like the choice of Forever and Always to start the CMA’s.  It’s not a very strong song, and the transitions are all over the place. It’s also very far away from Taylor’s country roots.  The redeeming part was her acoustic rendition of Fifteen sung with her guitar, in a dress, with cowboy boots and among her fans.  That is Taylor Swift.

But on with the show. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood did a fine job of keeping it funny without overdoing it.  They were really a classy act.  Yes, they poked fun at that one more time.

But let’s get to the point of this evening. I’ll sum it up it for you. What awards did Taylor Swift won? ALL OF THEM! Not bad for a girl from Pennsylvania, eh?  Congratulations, Taylor!

  • In a previous ceremony, she won for Video of the Year for Love Story.
  • She won album of the year, and accepted along with her producer Nathan Chapman.
  • She won vocalist of the year.  She accepted with a nod to Faith Hill and Reba McEntire and thanked everyone for not running onstage during her speech.
  • She won entertainer of the year, cried on stage and said this was the moment everything she ever wanted had happened to her.  She brought her band, the Agency, on stage.  She mentioned them all by full name.  Very cool and best moment of the night.  I was so glad the presenters were Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (they are like her country godparents). She also thanked the other nominees as she has opened for all all of them.

Best night ever.  Good night, Taylor.  Good night, the Agency.  Best to you all.  This is the best night ever.
