Taylor acceps the BMI Song of the Year Award for Love Story

The Fearless One took home the Song of The Year award for Love Story at the 58th BMI Pop Music Awards ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, California. She was on hand to receive the award. The BMIs also honored John Fogerty as BMI icon and RedOne as Songwriter of the Year. Fogerty performed a medley of his all time favorite hits at the ceremony. Orianthi performed the opening number at the ceremony. You can read the original article at BMI.com.

As re-told by Taylor Swift herself, she penned Love Story on her bedroom for a contest during her high school years. That’s way, way back. Ok, class of 2008. That’s two whole years. In showbiz that’s like… two years. She wrote the song alone.

She also shared an award with co-writer Liz Rose for the Most Performed Pop Song for You Belong With Me. I would have to add this is also the song most covered by other artists, not to mention half of YouTube’s population, both as a parody and as a cover by aspiring singers.

Liz Rose is a known collaborator of Taylor. She has co-written hits such as Tim McGraw and Teardrops On My Guitar from Taylor’s debut album and You Belong With Me, Fearless as well as White Horse which won a Grammy in 2010 for Best Country Song in the pre-awards ceremony. Both Taylor and Liz accepted that Grammy on stage, the same way they did last night at BMI. More about Liz Rose on her page at Wikipedia.

This is the Fearless One making her entrance at the BMI Pop Music Awards. Hey beautiful! 🙂

It’s time to support Taylor Swift again! Vote, vote, vote! You will be able to vote now through June 8. The CMT Awards are on June 9. You will be able to vote that day via text. She has also been nominated along with Taylor Lautner for Best Kiss for the MTV Movie Awards, which you can (and will) vote for.

The Fearless One’s next concert is up north… She’s soon to appear in Canada. She has one concert in Ottawa on May 20, and two in Toronto on May 21 and 22. I will be attending May 21! Look for the guy dressed as the Agency (suit, converse chucks and aviators). Or just look for a guy… I should be pretty easy to spot.

Also coming up this weekend is the ACM Presents Brooks & Dunn: The Last Rodeo special to air in CBS at 8pm ET/PT. Don’t miss it! Taylor will be among the performers honoring the legendary country duo.
