Taylor Swift at the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Okey, so we reported when it was announced she was getting it, and the day before. Now we obviously have to report the Fearless One actually receiving the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame held last night (June 17) at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel. Tay accepted in the company of fellow Agency band members Caitlin Evanson and Elizabeth Huett.

According to Just Jared Jr., the award is given to “gifted songwriters who are at an apex in their careers and are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.” Hal David, the chairman after whom the Award is named, says Taylor Swift epitomizes the ideal award recipient. John Mayer was the presenter handing over the award to T-Swizzle.

Tay is not taking a breather, though. Seriously, when does the Fearless One ever take vacations? She’s going straight into working on her third album but we here think that she should take some time off… after her third album is ready. Taylor seems to agree.

I’m actually going to be working on my record nonstop. For me, time off is working on a project and writing nonstop and spending all day and all night trying to get the exact perfect word in the second line of the bridge. For me, my life is a crossword puzzle at times. Like when I’m making an album, it’s all about filling in the blanks and making it click. And when it finally does, it’s so worth it.
