The Festival in Cavendish, PEI is now in full swing. The opener just before the headliner for today, July 9, was Emerson Drive. I’ve heard of them but I couldn’t pick out any of their songs. That being said, a lot of their set list sounded pretty darn familiar. There was a lot of rock in their country but make no mistake, this is a country group that rocks. Their fiddle player is pretty sick (as in sick good) and I was floored by their rendition of The Devil Went Down To Georgia which at some point even threw in a bit of Led Zeppelin into the mix. Definitely something to look up if they ever play live in venue near you.
The headliner this Friday was Little Big Town. I downloaded some of their songs from iTunes previously to get myself educated. They sound better in person than their recordings. Excellent range and power on all four main vocalists. With a rather extensive set that included Fine Line, Novacaine and I’m With The Band they were audience favorites for sure. No wonder Carrie Underwood picked them to open for her.
The Fearless One takes the stage tomorrow. The Cavendish Festival grounds open at noon. About 100,000 people are expected to attend. I’m a little worried. I hope Taylor brings her own road crew. Back on Thursday, July 8, Gloriana ran into complications that I think may have been avoided if they’ve had more of their own people. I wish Taylor would bring the Fearless stage but perhaps that’s too much to ask. I’m going to be all nerves hoping that everything works out tomorrow.
