The Outspoken One became the youngest recipient of the BMI Country Songwriter of the Year at the BMI Awards last night.

Taylor Swift is known for her handiwork as a writer in Fifteen, White Horse and You Belong With Me. She also penned Best Days of Your Life with Kellie Pickler, who recorded that song.

For the third time in a row, Taylor also won BMI Country Song of the Year for You Belong With Me, which she wrote with Liz Rose according to the Associated Press. She is the only songwriter to win the award three years in a row. Earlier in the year she was the youngest winner of the BMI Pop Song of the Year. Sony/ATV Tree, Taylor Swift Music, Orbison Music LLC, and Wagnerville Music are the publishers.

The Outspoken One recently dealt with the personal loss of a close friend. Just a day earlier, Taylor attended the funeral for him and sang a song according to Great American Country.

“It’s been a really emotional week,” said Taylor . “He was 21, and I used to play my songs for him first. So I would like to thank Jeff Lang.”

Here’s Taylor winning the Country Songwriter of the Year award and acceptance speech.

I believe I can speak on behalf of all the Taylor Nation by sending our thoughts and prayers.
