The 2011 American Country Awards: Finally some love for Thompson Square!

There are awards shows and award shows. You will notice some stars seem to shine on one and stay on the sidelines on another. Fox Network’s American Country Awards may have seemed that way but the important thing is that everybody gets their time in the spotlight.

Our congratulations to Thompson Square. They’ve been deserving a lot of accolades thrown in their direction and they won three tonight: Single of the Year by a Group, Single by a New Artist and Video by a New Artist. Here’s the story at Taste of Country.

Also, a big congratulations to Jason Aldean for collecting six of the ACA award guitars: Artist of the Year, Touring Artist of the Year, Album and Single of the Year by a Male Artist for “My Kinda Party” and Single and Music Video of the Year in a Collaboration with Kelly Clarkson for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” Brad Paisley took Male Artist of the Year and Carrie Underwood took Female Artist of the Year. Toby Keith was the Artist of the Decade.

Here’s the complete list of winners according to E! Online.

  1. I was convinced you were having a joke, til I checked…not one single award?!?! How can that be…really? I can’t get my head around the fact that the Entertainer of the Year didn’t get an award.

I must be missing something, I understand that Taylor can’t possibly win every award she’s nominated for (well she can, but other folks may not care for that so much) but these are fan voted awards and knowing that and knowing Taylors fans makes me really question the validity of these particular awards.

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood on her 3 wins.

    1. Here’s the way I see this. It’s about the AMA’s and ACA’s having voting at the same time. I voted for Taylor every day but just once. You could vote as many times as you wanted if you created a lot of email accounts. Maybe other fans did that. I spent all my time voting thousands of times for Taylor for the AMA’s instead. And my votes weren’t wasted. That look on her face when she won Artist of the Year was great. I’d take that award over the six she didn’t win tonight. Maybe Taylor figured she wouldn’t win much tonight since she didn’t show up. Was this only the second year for this sgow? Someone told me it was. Maybe this show was created to give everyone else a chance against Taylor. 🙂

  2. I agree… Jason Aldean is a great country artist and so is Carrie Underwood, but neither of them have the fan base that Taylor has, and Taylor’s fans are all very active in their support for her. So it’s a little hard to comprehend that she didn’t win any fan voted awards at the ACAs. Maybe the auditors should be called in to check the results.
