Grammy Highlights: The Outspoken One on the red carpet and the Mean performance

Hello Taylor Nation,

The Sparkly Dressed took two awards at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles: Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, both for Mean.  She also did a flawless performance of Mean on stage, which received a standing ovation.

Although I wished for Safe And Sound, I completely understand why the Enchantress had to sing Mean. The song, inspired by the criticism that her previous Grammy performance received last year, was meant to give Taylor some closure in the same style that Innocent did when she performed it at the VMAs. The Enchantress just doesn’t like to leave any loose ends. The fact that the song won her two Grammy Awards was just icing on the cake.

Here is the video of her interview with Ryan Seacrest. Thanks to E! Entertainment for the clip!

Here is the Mean performance. Don’t expect this clip to remain up. I’ll try to keep a working version of the clip here.

The Civil Wars’ Joy Williams and John Paul White introduced the Queen of Sparks and in the short time they had gave the world a taste of Barton Hollow. Had they been allowed more time they could’ve blown everyone away. John Paul got away with the only good joke of the night, “I’d like to thank all our opening acts…”

That’s just the beginning of a busy week for the Outspoken One. According to TV Guide, she’s scheduled to appear on the Today Show on NBC on Friday, February 17. TV Press Feed reports she will be a guest on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, February 20. Taylor Swift and Zac Efron are scheduled to appear on The Ellen Degeneres Show on February 21.

Update! Taylor Swift was scheduled to be the guest on the Today Show on NBC on Friday, February 17 according to TV Guide. It didn’t happen. Whether it was rescheduled or a misprint, I can’t really say. There was a segment earlier on the week on Taylor Swift – whether that was it or not, I can’t really say without a source.
