Hello Taylor Nation!
The Sparkly Dressed talked to Philippine Daily Enquirer in an interview published online on Inquirer Entertainment. No relation to the National Enquirer. This is not a very recent interview, but it just got published earlier this month. I’m going to guess it took place during the press event for The Lorax before she left for Australia.
I don’t believe Taylor is actively pursuing a full-time acting career. She’s happy acting on the side as long as it’s fun and the role appeals to her. “I’ve been reading scripts for about five years,” she says. “Just kind of under the radar, asking my agents to please send me everything that might be good. In my free time I just read and read.”
I’m really glad she’s being very selective about what she takes on for the big screen.
“If I got a script that I thought was OK and a character that I kind of liked and could pull off but wasn’t obsessed with, that would be unfair to someone else who might be obsessed with that character. So if I do a movie, you will know I cannot think of anything other than that character.”
She also mentions Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Daniel Day-Lewis and Will Smith as inspirations.
As most fans of her know, the Enchantress started in theater when she was very young. She also went to New York for auditions. “I was always going there for vocal and acting lessons…and for auditions, where you stand in line in a long hallway with a lot of people. (I’ve always been freakishly tall, like a giant.)”
“After a few years of auditioning in New York and not getting anything, I started writing songs. But I never lost my love for theater.” That should be obvious for everyone that has seen her concert tours. She does like to create an atmosphere for each performance.
She also talked about her first love. “Omigosh, it’s so hard because I’ve considered three different people (as my first love),” she tells Inquirer Entertainment. “I dated a guy in high school for a while and I think that was, in a way, first love-ish.”
Finally she did address her known habit of writing songs for guys she’s just met. Kinda helps me drive an old pet peeve of mine: Not every song that the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar writes is a relationship. Some were just inspired by a random encounter. “That can happen. I get inspired by the smallest or the biggest things. You meet someone and you wonder if you’ll ever see them again. I could write so many songs about that. I have written so many songs about that. Wait till you hear my next record, it’s all about that.”

Yes, we’re waiting 🙂
