Hello Country Music fans!
The 2012 CMA Fest has begun! The first night at LP Field on June 7 brings us the best of the best with performances by Glen Campbell, Miranda Lambert featuring Pistol Annies, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band and Brad Paisley.
Best Act Hands Down was definitely Lady Antebellum. It’s their constant commitment to quality performances coupled with vocal skills and overall class that keeps them in their own category. Each of their songs have a particular arrangement for going live, and when they do they add to the track without taking anything from it.
My very own personal Act To Watch goes to the Zac Brown Band. This is a band that just seems to have fun on stage. Nothing about what they do sounds easy in the hands of anybody else, but when they sing or play it just seems like it was the easiest thing to do.
This doesn’t mean that the other performances sucked. Jason Aldean rocked the house as well as Miranda Lambert. Glen Campbell’s performance of his old hits were very well received. Brad Paisley is still one of the finest performers in Country Music.
And now, a Shades Of Taylor moment. Brad Paisley brings up Hank Williams Jr. to the stage during his performance of This Is Country Music. As I watched the screens with the usual clips of legendary country music artists from previous times, I realized that he’s added a couple of screens to the vintage with a couple of current artists. I recognized Carrie Underwood and then… I see he’s added another blonde up there. Written into the palm of her hand is the number 13. And just for that, Brad is the coolest of the cool in my book.
