Hello Taylor Nation,
The Do Something Awards honors young active people who try to change the world for the better. They represent the best in their field or cause. Each finalist receives a $10,000 community grant with the grand prize winner receiving a $100,000 community grant.
The awards also honor artists in several fields (music, movies, etc) as well as their use of social media (facebook, twitter). They don’t get a grant. Don’t worry, they’ll be ok. Here at the Swift Agency, one guy who knows when to walk away, we hear the Enchantress is doing ok financially. A generous soul, she’s also giving back to her community.
The Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar has two nominations:
- As Music Artist nominee, she is nominated for her charity work among which is the Speak Now – Help Now benefit for victims of recent tornadoes in the United States southeast, her donation of $250k to Nick Saban’s charity Nick’s Kids, and her participation with charities like The Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Medical Center and Habitat for Humanity.
- As Facebook nominee, it’s her public counter-offer to Kevin McGuire’s invitation to the prom. She instead invited him to the next award show she would attend and that he was in condition to make. Unfortunately, that was not the 47th ACM Awards as his health became fragile. Kevin was strong enough to attend his prom (with another girl), and he’s on stand-by for the next awards.
The celebrity angle is of course, the way to bring attention to the actual causes through the media (not to mention the celebrities’ fan bases). The 2012 Do Something Awards air on VH1 on Tuesday, August 21 at 9/8c. Yes, it is fan-voted. You can VOTE HERE.

Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform on the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday, September 22. You can purchase tickets to the festival on Ticketmaster.
