The Canadian Country Music Awards Swiftlist: What to expect tonight

(Source: CBC Music)

Hello Taylor Nation,

Here at the Swift Agency, one guy who will start apologizing right now, we’re excited to see the Sparkly Dressed appear on Canadian TV. However, chances are if you don’t live in Canada you probably won’t be able to see the show. The CCMA Awards will be broadcasted live from Saskatoon, Canada starting at 8pm on CBC.

The Princess in Red is in attendance to receive the inaugural CCMA Generation Award. I’m afraid that besides a couple of names, I barely know Canadian Country music artists. They tend to be a more traditional lot. On top of that some websites are not doing their homework… T-Swizzle won’t be the only special guest tonight. Coming up from that little country south of the border, we got performances by Miranda Lambert with the Pistol Annies, Jason Aldean and Eric Church. The Enchantress is not performing.

Up for awards are Canadian talents Dean Brody and Johnny Reid. Johnny is has eight nominations while Dean has seven. They’re up for the album of the year, as well as Terri Clark. Terri is also up for Female Vocalist as well as Tara Oram. I saw Tara perform at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival back in 2010. She opened for the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar, who was the headliner that time, fresh off her Fearless Tour.

Here’s the Pistol Annies announcing their performance on CBC:

Canadian performances also include Emerson Drive, a band that has had success in the US. A long time ago they performed in a few US country festivals, once with a 16-year old girl from Wyomissing, PA playing as their opening act. That girl is the one receiving the Generation Award tonight. The show starts at 8pm Eastern Time, 8:30 NT on CBC. You can see the latest news on the awards at CBC Live.
