Review Corner: Eric Church’s Caught in the Act: Live

Hello, Churchgoers!

Eric Church has said he knows that from now on his career will be defined by Chief. From now on, he knows it’s split between pre-Chief and post-Chief. I’m afraid I’m a complete rookie – or a recent convert if you will – to his music. Yes, my first album was Chief. I’m late to the party.

However, it seems I’m just in time for the best part. Caught in the Act: Live is a concert recording of Eric at his best. It’s also a great introduction to all his recent and past material – a best hits performed live and loud. If it hasn’t been obvious that Eric is part of the outlaw tradition of Country Music, it becomes blatantly true when he plays live. He was born to raise some hell.

Eric was one of the performances to remember at the 48th ACM Awards when he sang She Loves Me Like Jesus Does with Valerie June lending additional vocals. This is crazy good:
