Hello readers,

It’s been one hell of a week. Two bombs went off during the Boston marathon. There was an explosion on a fertilizer plant on the town of West, Texas. Makes no sense at all yet this is the world we live in. I can’t spin this into something nice, but I’ve decided not to ignore it. Even silly celebrity blogs like mine should at least acknowledge times of pain and suffering. It’s awkward and uncomfortable but even as a Canadian blogging about the Sparkly Dressed and other country artists, I think writers must never ignore the world around us. We must be affected by our reality.

I want to offer my condolences to everyone who’s being affected by the recent tragedies. I will keep you in my thoughts and in my prayers. You can read more on the current news on CNN. You can get involved and contribute with the Red Cross.

The Blonde With The Sparkly RED Guitar sent her love via Twitter.

I often heard that people dealing with tragedy need help, not prayers. I think you help when you can, with what you can, as much as you can – and you can always add a prayer on top of it. It needn’t be extensive, formulaic or even conform to any religious standard. It can be a mere thought. But it’s better than ignoring it. As I have said before, you don’t need to choose between praying and helping. You can do both. This is just my opinion, and it’s just a blog after all.
