Hope you had a happy Canada Day, Taylor Nation!
Here at the Swift Agency, just a guy that rarely gets to say this, we’re reporting from home – Montreal, for a change. The Agency left one member behind. Musical director and keyboard player extraordinaire, David Cook, was on location. David was part of the band for songstress Morgan James who was playing at the Montreal Jazz Festival on June 30 and July 1st.
Morgan James has quite a powerhouse voice. She took the stage to play a wide array of songs from Nina Simone to Aretha Franklin to Prince. She also performed a few new songs of her own. I was impressed by her range as well as the incredible raw power of her voice. David, once more the musical director, was also unparalleled at the piano.
I had the chance to talk to David prior to their first performance last night, July 1st. The always polite and down to earth maestro was very approachable. He was the one who had been nice enough to give me the heads up that he was performing with Morgan. I had to stick around after the show to just congratulate him on a great performance and meet Morgan James. That’s another album review coming up.
Here’s a short clip from their performance:
Thanks to David for taking the time to say hello. Have a nice trip home, and thanks for visiting us here in Montreal! Big shoutout to @canadaswift who was also there 🙂
