Hope it’s nice where you are, Taylor Nation.
Here at The Swift Agency, just a guy ready for one last hurrah, we’ve got everything ready for Nash- wait, what is all this ninja stuff doing in my luggage? Oh yeah, the guys at the Ninja Department wish they could make it, but the budget is a bit tight this year.
The Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar played Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday, September 13. According to NewsObserver.com, the two hour concert was a tour de force. “From start to end,” reads the article, “the six-time Grammy winner was brilliant, engaging, and in complete control”. You can read the entire review at NewsObserver.com.
The secret song that night was Our Song. This song may not have been her first single, but I think it holds a special meaning to her. It’s the one of the few songs from the first album that she still plays to this day in concert. It was also the last song on the first album (the standard release) because she wanted that phrase. “play it again” to be a hint to the listener. The secret message on the CD sleeve was “live n love.”
The Queen of Sparks just finished playing in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, September 14. You can find pictures at The Daily Progress. It’s here where she revisited a Speak Now classic: Last Kiss. This song may be one of the most lyrically well crafted masterpieces of Taylor’s entire repertoire. The melody is slow but powerful, never once growing above the lyrics and constantly flowing from beginning to end, except for that three note stepping stones in the chorus. It’s also a song about letting go. The secret message on the CD sleeve was “forever and always.”
