Sara Evans’ new offering, Slow Me Down, is a terrific album. The beautiful and talented Elizabeth Huett has a song in this album as a songwriter. She co-wrote “Put My Heart Down” along with Andrew Dorff and Nathan Chapman. The lyrics are about a break up but the melody is comforting and warm. Yes, it’s telling an ex lover to walk away but it feels so friendly. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album.
We also get “Not Over You” featuring Gavin DeGraw which should sound familiar, it was already released as a lead single by Gavin back in 2011 as part of his album Sweeter.
I also loved something about “You Never Know”. Feels a bit like an 80’s power ballad, the kind that would feel right at home sung by Laura Branigan on a movie soundtrack. Then again, I know that reference might be a little too dated for most of my reading audience. Great song.
Other recommendations are “If I Run”, “Good Love is Hard to Find” and “Better Off” which features Vince Gill. “Gotta Have You” and “Revival” might be the two last songs in the album, but give them a listen. Pretty good to listen as well.
The album Slow Me Down is now available on iTunes.
