Move the furniture so you can dance, Taylor Nation.
Out Of The Woods is out now on iTunes. This is, for me, the one best song that Taylor Swift has released up until now. Ok, yes, a lot of songs have their history and their moment. It might be too soon to call this one THE song, but I dare call it THE song of Taylor Swift right now. I want this song to be heard by everyone. If this song is not a single, if this song is not record of the year, if this song doesn’t soar to #1, well then the pop world has not acknowledged its new champion yet. YES it is a pop song, and yes it has production and you can hear Taylor in both main voice and chorus. But the word amazing falls short to describe it.
The start is not a big seller, but that’s Taylor. She starts really subtle. Then the buildup begins and the hook in the chorus first hits. You can feel the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar bringing out all her Forever And Always, all her All Too Well and peeling it all into a sparkly fireball that I should really call the bridge of the song but for all intends and purposes I am going to call a fireball. That was a really unnecessary long sentence. Sorry not sorry.
And for the record, I don’t give a flying fucking rat’s ass who was the original inspiration for this song’s lyrics (yeah I know who, I just don’t think it’s relevant). The sole names that get credit here are Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff. Lady and gentleman, this is a work of art. Thank you.
Taylor already put out the lyrics on her Tumblr already:
Out Of The Woods
Written by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff
Produced by Jack AntonoffLooking at it now
It all seems so simple
We were lying on your couch
I remember
You took a Polaroid of us
Then discovered
The rest of the world was black and white
But we were in screaming color
And I remember thinking…Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet, good.
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet, good. Are we out of the woods?Looking at it now
Last December, we were built to fall apart
Then fall back together
Your necklace hanging from my neck
The night we couldn’t quite forget
When we decided
To move the furniture so we could dance
Baby, like we stood a chance
Two paper airplanes flying, flying…
And I remember thinkingChorusRemember when you hit the brakes too soon
Twenty stitches in a hospital room
When you started crying
Baby, I did too
But when the sun came up
I was looking at you
Remember when we couldn’t take the heat
I walked out, I said “I’m setting you free”
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
When the sun came up
You were looking at me.You were looking at me… Oh
You were looking at me.
I remember.
Oh, I remember..Chorus

Is it weird that my first thought when I finished listening was “This should be a rock song, imagine a whole stadium of Swifties headbanging to the chorus.”
I just wish it was longer, like maybe another minute and a half.
I know, I’m nitpicking awesomeness, can’t help it.
I wouldn’t mind another minute and a half at all 🙂
