Long live, Taylor Nation.
This post has been in draft form for a while. As you probably know now, Caitlin and Grant won’t be in the 1989 Tour. I thought I’d update you on what everyone is up to these days… Or at least everyone that I know about. Yes, I know that’s Claire in the picture. Actually, this is a picture that Claire posted sometime in July, 2014. From left to right: Grant, Claire, Liz and Al. I’m happy to see they stay in touch 🙂
Al Wilson was the founder of the touring band that would later give itself the inside name of The Agency. Contrary to what you might think, it was Al who put the original band together. There has been a lot of members in and out but the members did became more recurring when Taylor became a headliner. The Agency, a name that came to mind while they were wearing a suit and chucks, was named as such during the filming of the Picture To Burn video back in 2008. Al is known to have brought in both Grant Mickelson and Amos Heller.
You can read more about him on his Agency Profile: Al Wilson page.
Grant Mickelson is one of the oldest members of the band, even before it was known as The Agency. In 2004, he moved to Nashville, where he studied music at Belmont University and began making contacts in the music industry. He’s also played with Sara Evans, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Lady Antebellum and Damon Smith.
He’s currently offering guitar lessons via Skype. You can contact him via @GrantMickelson. He’s given out an email address but I’m not comfortable posting it here. If you message him via Twitter regarding guitar lessons, he will probably respond. Grant and Claire Callaway, former dancer from the Fearless and Speak Now Tours, are very active in social media (Glaire!).
You can read more about him on his Agency Profile: Grant Mickelson page.
Caitlin Evanson is a versatile vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who plays mandolin in addition to violin and rhythm electric and acoustic guitar. Prior to joining Swift in 2007, Caitlin toured and recorded with Ringo Starr, and before that was on the road and in the studio with Dave Stewart and also with Big & Rich. In addition, she has performed for the troops overseas as part of several USO Tours.
is sitting out the 1989 Tour, but she remains active in music. She’s currently offering her services as a vocalist and musician. If you have a song, she can actually sing it and perform it instrumentally. Check out Sessions by Cait.
Note: She actually used a quote of mine in her about page. How sweet! 🙂
You can read more about her in her Agency Profile: Caitlin Evanson page.
The beautiful and talented Elizabeth Huett has been the target of a couple of articles of mine, most recently her Road To CMA Awards showcase. Liz is, believe it or not, the ultimate Taylor Swift fan. A long, long time ago she was the last fan in line to meet the pre-Fearless One after a concert. Taylor invited her to her dressing room to hear her sing and gave her some advice. Liz and Taylor would actually run into each other several times as Liz’s career grew, including a televised appearance on Dance Wars (Charity and Lacey, dancers for the Fearless Tour, were also contestants) where Taylor performed. Eventually Liz would audition to be T’s background singer.
Now singing at the CMA Awards showcase, Elizabeth Huett goes from background singer to star as she performs an exclusive showcase for some of country music’s top executives. You can watch the video here, but it’s USA region-locked. Update! There’s a non-locked version at RumorFix.
You can read more about her on her Agency Profile: Elizabeth Huett page.
Daniel Sadownick appeared back in 2011 to play the congas during the Speak Now Tour. He has studied privately with percussion masters Andrew Cyrille, John Amira and Frankie Malabe. He toured with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra for two years. He has toured and recorded with The Roots, Al Green, Steely Dan, Michael Brecker, Dennis Chambers, Billy Idol, Pat Martino, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Raul Midon and the Screaming Headless Torsos.
You can read more about him on his Agency Profile: Daniel Sadownick page.
