Lover debuts at no. 1 with 867,000 units sold on the first week!

No, you cannot crash in the living room! Who gave you that idea, Swifties?

The Sparkly Dressed should be celebrating. Her adored seventh album Lover has become her sixth studio album to debut at the top stop. Lover debuts at the no. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 chart. It’s the biggest first week for any album since 2017 when reputation made its debut with 1.238 million units. According to Nielsen Music, the album has won 867,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 29 as reported by Billboard. 679,000 of those units were album sales.

In total, Lover begins with 867,000 equivalent album units earned, of which 679,000 were in album sales; 13,000 were in TEA units and 175,000 were in SEA units. The latter figure translates to 226 million on-demand audio streams earned for the album’s songs during its release week.

Billboard has also published a few quotes from some the reviews that the album has been getting which you can read here.

The album’s latest single which shares the same name has even made a fan out of Keith Urban (I mean, he was a fan of hers already) who covered “Lover” on stage.

On other news, Taylor will be appearing on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge tomorrow at 12pm UK time (7am Eastern Time, 4am Pacific Time). That is, of course, if you have a way to see it. Hopefully there will be a video right after.
