The Sparkly Dressed may be repeating a message that the world has heard for a long time, but it bears repeating for the people who haven’t listened to it yet.
Okey, spoilers! Yes, that is Taylor Swift in full use of her chameleon powers to transform into her own gender-swapped version. And the truth is she sales it, fronting, posing, man-spreading and throwing tantrums just like someone who thinks of himself as The Man would. According to the “Mr. Americana” movie poster we see in the wall, the guy is called “Tyler” Swift.
There’s tons of easter eggs to unpack. Okey, let’s be real most are in plain sight but some might have extra hidden meaning. It’s not focused on celebrity cameos, which is good in this case. The message is not diluted by its humour, which takes a lot of movie references from The Wolf Of Wall Street. It’s intentionally going over the top, but the satire is not unwarranted. We’re seeing men like these every day in the news. Some in very high ranking positions. I’m just going to leave that there.
I did love the cameo by her dad, Scott Swift, as the tennis umpire. The wall on the subway with all her albums in graffiti was a big highlight so when I saw it I knew I had to use it for the featured image. All rights owned by Taylor Swift, of course 😉
