Kamilah was born on February 22. She was raised in Orange County, California and grew up with the sound of Motown and jazz. Her mom loved Aretha, Patti, and the Pointer Sisters and her Dad played Miles, Bird, and Coltrane. Mix it all together with Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and a love for country music.
She graduated high school early to start a tour with the show “Heart Strings” that raise money and awareness for AIDS victims. She shared the stage with Nell Carter, Salt N’ Pepa, and Patti LuPone.

She has worked with Bette Midler, producers Salaam Remi and Nile Rodgers, and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. She sang “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” on the soundtrack for “Sex and the City 2” and both The Original Cast Recording of the Broadway musical “Hairspray” and the soundtrack for the film based on the play.
