The Princess in Red was not attending FOX Network’s American Country Awards last night. She might be the only person that can break the tendency in fan-voted awards that winners are usually in attendance. Taylor Swift won World Wide Artist of the Year which she accepted via video from Australia.
Thanks to taytaylove13 for posting! She also won Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration and Music Video of the Year: Group or Collaboration both for“Highway Don’t Care” with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. The song also won Song of the Year.
Here’s T-Swizzle’s acceptance speech:
Hey guys, it’s Taylor.
I’m so sorry that I can’t be with you tonight but I’m still thankful that you decided to give me this ACA Worldwide Artist of the Year.
Appropriately, I’m actually on the other side of the world right now, that’s why I can’t be there. I’m playing a show tonight in Sydney, Australia. And I’m so happy that you decided to honour touring worldwide. It’s such an amazing part of my life, writing songs and then getting to play them all over the world to audiences who are singing every single lyric back to you whether or not it’s an English speaking country. It’s really cool for you to honour that, I really appreciate that! And thank you, thank you, thank you! Have an amazing night!
The Princess in Red has never won an award from them. Here at the Swift Agency, just a guy who’s said this more than few times, we believe that’s more their loss that it is the Enchantress’. However, odds are more favorable this year based on the sheer number of nominations and hopefully a big increase in the voting numbers too.
The voting rules do have a little liability disclaimer: “Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the voting, and tally the votes received prior to action taken or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor.”
Put my name at the top of your list, Taylor Nation.
It’s not the first time that the Blonde With The Sparkly RED Guitar is nominated for the American Ido- oops sorry, I mean, the American Country Awards. FOX Networks created the awards back on 2010. Taylor has never won one. In T-Swizzle’s case that’s bad news… for FOX. Since she’s never won one, FOX hasn’t had her as part of her broadcast. This is the last time I’m telling you this: if you don’t have Taylor on your award show, don’t expect the Taylor Nation to be tuning in.
Now FOX is making amends by putting the Princess in Red at the top of their list. Taylor Swift is the top nominee with eight categories:
Artist of the Year
Artist of the Year: Female
Single of the Year: Female for“Begin Again”
Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration: “Highway Don’t Care,” Tim McGraw featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban
Touring Artist of the Year
Great American Country – Music Video of the Year: “Begin Again”
Music Video of the Year – Female: “Begin Again”
Music Video of the Year: Group or Collaboration: “Highway Don’t Care,” Tim McGraw featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban
Here at the Swift Agency, one guy who you totally thought forgot to write that part where he says he’s the Swift Agency, we have some bad news for FOX. The ACAs take place December 10. The Queen of Sparks will be in Australia (check the Calendar). Then again, that also means you will get us fans tuning in to see if we can get her an award.
Hopefully we get an acceptance video, but who knows. The ACAs have snubbed Taylor Swift out of a single award, including coming up with some unconventional choices for wins. I’m glad other artists got recognized instead, give them a spotlight! However, if you want to decide who wins calling it a fan-voted awards is a bit of a stretch.
You can VOTE NOW until November 12. And yes, the voting rules do have a little liability disclaimer: “Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the voting, and tally the votes received prior to action taken or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor.” I still encourage you to VOTE.
October 31: The 2014 People’s Choice nominations are open until this date. Taylor Swift is named as Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Country Artist. We suggest adding RED as Album of the Year and “I Knew You Were Trouble” as Song of the Year. VOTE NOW through October 31st.
November 3: Taylor Swift has been announced to perform at the X Factor UK. No word on whether this is a live performance or pre-recorded. Odds are on our favor for a live appearance to promote the RED Tour next year.
The Outspoken was on Good Morning America as the starting point of her Wonderstruck promotion mini-tour.
She also appeared in Live with Regis and Kelly later in the morning as she made her rounds talking about her ongoing Speak Now Tour and new fragrance.
Remember the Enchantress is hosting a Viewing Party at a Macy’s today, October 13, at 4:30pm Eastern time. You will be able to watch on Taylor Swift’s Facebook Page UStream Live tab. The Sparkly Dressed will introduce her new fragrance, Wonderstruck, at Macy’s Herald Square in NYC.
On other news, Taylor has received six nominations from the American Country Awards to air live from Las Vegas on December 5. The Sparkly Dressed is up for Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year Female, Album of the Year for Speak Now, Single of the Year Female for Mean, Touring Headline Package of the Year and Music Video Female for Back To December.
I have a confession to make. I often criticize and make snappy remarks about things I don’t like. If you’re a follower of mine on Twitter you’ve probably heard me go on during award shows. Even then, I’m having a bit of fun. However, last night watching the ACAs was a bit jarring.
The Outspoken One was not present. That made me biased from the start. She didn’t win anything. However, I was still on board to see Lady Antebellum get recognized. They got four awards. Music Video of the Year by a Duo or Group, Single of the Year by a Duo or Group, Single of the Year and Duo or Group Artist of the Year.
The fan voted awards results were obviously known since the beginning of the show since most winners would be ready to perform as they were announced. The performances were good, though strangely enough they were often only half broadcast as the show would pause to go into commercials. Then the artist would have to come back to actually receive the award. There were no envelopes and the trophy was a guitar. Sounds cool, but it’s like giving a surfboard at the Teen Choice Awards: it’s more of a gimmick. In case you’re wondering, they are the same producers. There was hardly any suspense or buildup at all for any of the awards and very few were actually given out during the show.
No artist came to the podium twice. Lady Antebellum walked up the stage only once, and as they did the announcer would simply say the other awards won. It was very hard to follow, because you didn’t know which award was really coming up next. Carrie Underwood won the big one of the night, Artist of the Year. As she walked up they announced she had been the winner of other five: Female Artists of the Year, Album of the year, Female Single of the Year, Touring Headline Package of the Year and Female Music Video of the Year. Carrie holding six trophies would be a cool picture, but since they’re guitars all she can do is stand by them. Please design something people can hold?
Did anybody catch that Brad Paisley won the Male Artist of the Year? That seems like a major award to announce. At least Alan Jackson and Toby Keith got some recognition. It was also nice to see Easton Corbin get some recognition. He was either too excited or his mike was too high but he seemed to be screaming.
I think there are a few things to work on. I still believe in the old envelope. Work a little on glamour there. There was a red carpet that could’ve benefit of the old live stream treatment. Trace with the girls was just… I was going to say more Vegas than country but in the end it just looked tacky. Jeff Dunham and the puppet skits… let me just say I don’t expect a country singer when I go see him on stage. He was out of place at a country awards show.
It was way too obvious this was the first time the organizers were putting together a show and the parts didn’t fit correctly.
I hope Trace Adkins found out the credits did roll on top of his performance and that the organizers cut off the transmission before he finished. I’m kidding. Always. Sometimes.
