It’s not a joke, Taylor Nation.

The Agency’s own Mike Meadows has already been on the spotlight lately. If you have access to iTunes, you should be considering his own EP, When You Need Someone, Vol. 1. After much consideration, I’ve decided to return certain Agency birthdays to the Calendar. Since I don’t know who wants them there and who doesn’t, I’ve opted to only put up the ones from Agency band members I’ve met personally. All that to say: Happy Birthday, Mike!

Danville, Virginia. He has played music for as long as he can remember. He started playing guitar at the age of 8, and started singing shortly thereafter. He used guitar as a gateway to other instruments and eventually earned a Bachelors Degree in Cello Performance from James Madison University. You can read more about him here on his own Agency Profile: Mike Meadows.

A little blast from the past Red Tour. Here’s David Cook (no, not the American Idol one!) joined by Mike Meadows during one of their impromptu instrumental performances before “Treacherous”.

It’s Mike’s turn on the spotlight, Taylor Nation!

The Agency’s Mike Meadows is well known as the master of instruments, but he’s also an accomplished solo performer. Right now, you can hear his new EP on iTunes. Mike’s  When You Need Someone, Vol. 1 EP is a great soundtrack for a day off, a lazy evening or for a road trip. For some reason, I can imagine myself listening and singing along to these songs while driving, but perhaps that’s just me.

“Last Time the Lights Went Out” is a song that could easily feel at home in an album by Keith Urban or Lady Antebellum. There’s some country, some pop and some easy rock and roll. It has that turn-up-the-radio quality to it. “Coming With Me” is a slow song, but it’s uplifting and has enough oomph to bring your spirits up. Mike doesn’t let up, as the next song “If Only I’d Known” is a great power ballad that might be my favorite one right now. There’s a hint of nostalgia that reminds me of Eric Church’s Chief, not in sound but just in feeling. “Rain on the Roof” really digs into the guitar, with twang and amazing vocals. “Know You” is another of those tracks that feels like it begs for a long stretch of road to listen to, another amazing song that closes the EP.

Actually if any of these songs are any indication of Mike’s craft – and I believe they are – it begs the question of what would Mike would do if, or perhaps I should say when, he goes full steam on a complete studio album. You can get the amazing When You Need Someone, Vol. 1, and you should, on iTunes now.

You can find out more about Mike Meadows on his own page here on Agency Profile: Mike Meadows.

Happy Birthday, Mike! Sorry, I’m late.

Here at the Swift Agency, just a guy who’s usually late because he had to read or write something, we’re going to be very Canadian and start by apologizing for forgetting Mike Meadows‘ birthday yesterday, April 1st.

I had to find a picture that would embody the very essence of Mike and I think I did. That’s him holding the banana. The hostage is Amos. Relax, the banana is not loaded.

Mike Meadows hails from Danville, Virginia. He has played music for as long as he can remember. He’s a songwriter / performer / producer /cellist / guitarist / bassist / singer. He’s currently working on a way to play all those things at the same time, but he can’t seem to make it not look like he’s trying too hard. You can read more about Mike on his Agency Profile: Mike Meadows.

Don’t forget! You can now vote for Taylor for ACM Entertainer of the Year for the 49th Annual ACM Awards.

Happy Birthday Mike Meadows! Mike hails from Danville, Virginia. He’s the guy who plays everything that has strings, so you’ll see him at home on guitar, banjo, mandolin, cello, harmonica among other instruments. He’s a songwriter / performer / producer /cellist / guitarist / bassist / singer. He’s married to Brittany Milton.

The Sparkly Dressed once dubbed Mike the most sincere and the most sarcastic of the band.

You can find him on Twitter  @smalltownmike, at his page on MySpace.com/smalltownmike and, of course, he’s got his own profile here: Agency Profile: Mike Meadows.

Here’s Mike playing with Tequila Sunrise at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. You can probably recognize The Agency’s Paul Sidoti and Amos Heller as well.

A little nostalgia for fans of The Agency. This is Mike and the guys at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, UK back in March 24, 2011. Time flies when you’re having fun.
