The Fearless One participated in the NFL Play 60 campaign event in New Orleans this Wednesday, September 8. The event, hosted by Michelle Obama, aims to end childhood obesity. Taylor Swift joined football stars Deuce McAllister, Derrick Brooks, and Eddie George for the charity event which encourages children to be active for 60 minutes each day and get involved in sports. Kids from across the area had the chance to get some exercise and even learn a few football skills from the players.
“We did all of this because of you,” the US First Lady (that’s Michelle Obama, just in case you were wondering) told her audience. “Can you believe that? All these players — look at all this press. They’re here because of you.” Then she added, “let’s move.” She actually ran through some of the courses herself according to WDSU.com. T-Swizzle’s scheduled surprise visit (!) was the cherry on top.
“These kids need it,” said Deuce McAllister, running back for the Saints, “I need it. It definitely helps us, so with us and with their support, you’ve got to be excited about it.”
Taylor Swift seems to be getting into the football spirit already. She will perform during the NFL opening game between the Saints and the Vikings tonight, September 9. NBC will broadcast the opening and the game starting 7:30pm Eastern Time. The Dave Matthews Band will perform just before the Fearless One and The Agency take the stage.
A side note. Keith Urban, known for putting a great show – something I know first hand, I saw him give a great performance at the Cavendish Music Festival – was caught on video shooing a guard away. He’s known for letting the audience do what they want at his shows, and really would rather security not get in the way of the fan’s experience. Unfortunately, he waved the guard away with his foot and some people (that must really be BLIND) are going as far as to say that he kicked him. He didn’t come any way close to doing that. Coming up this weekend, is the much hyped MTV 2010 Video Music Awards, with Taylor up for the Female Video of the Year award. Yes, it the same one. Yes, the rapper whose name I can’t recall is also going. Yes, I want her to wear her boots with spurs if she gets up there.
