Taylor took a shopping break while in Los Angeles, according to Celebrity Gossip.
Rumors are flying left and right for MTV’s 2010 Video Music Awards. The VMA’s are no strangers to controversy… they actually promote it. They’re definitely aiming for another incident this year. We knew was that the rapper whose name I forget was performing. Now it’s public domain that the Fearless One is performing as well, according to People.com. No, they are not performing together. Even T-Swizzle’s performance was supposed to be a surprise.
But the latest rumor is that she’s performing a song about the VMA incident from last year. I usually do not address any news article that quotes “a source close to the show” instead of a direct quote from the artist, but surprisingly enough this comes from the Associated Press.
They are quoting this unnamed source when they say that Taylor Swift will be premiering a song from her upcoming album, Speak Now. A song inspired by the infamous stage invasion of he-who-shall-not-be-named.
I would normally laugh it off and put this on my ‘yeah, right’ folder, specially without a direct quote if it not were AP. They justify keeping the source’s identity a secret due to the “sensitivity of the matter”. It’s. A. Performance. That’s hardly a justification in my opinion. Not naming the source has become the loophole for tabloids to print any rumor under the sun. So I have my doubts here. I don’t know what to make of this but it’s going all over the place now.
Either sparks will fly or this house of cards rumor will be nothing. As a matter of fact, it could possibly be that we end up with no incident at all, despite everyone secretly hoping for one. I for one hope we don’t have to endure yet another year of jokes. Please!
The Fearless One has always said she likes to surprise audiences. She has mentioned she admires Sugarland and Britney Spears who often prepare special performances. Between you and me, I’d prefer she leans for Sugarland’s stage surprises than Spears’ but that’s neither here nor there. If Taylor is premiering a song tomorrow that’s news enough for me.
CMT.com is launching a new contest. Four lucky winners will fly to New York City for Taylor Swift’s album release party for Speak Now and then fly to Los Angeles with Taylor. You will also have a chance to interview her one-on-one. Enter at http://winwithtaylor.com. Brace yourself for the bad news: it’s only reserved for US residents. I can’t enter either 😦
Coming up this Sunday, is the much hyped MTV 2010 Video Music Awards, with Taylor up for the Female Video of the Year award. The show airs on all MTV Networks at 9pm Eastern, 8pm Central.
