Hello Taylor Nation!
The New Yorker has written a profile on the Sparkly Dressed. It’s not a negative critique but not even a critique at all. It’s a bit short on depth and dated. I would expect someone to go further into Taylor’s character, but the article just skims the surface. The big surprise in the article is that T-Swizzle actually ran into the rapper whose name I forget back during the Costume Institute Gala at the Met. They did a low high-five. That was back in May 2. Magazines usually interview for a later date, but for the insight it brings this article could’ve been written two years ago (the article is named You Belong With Me? Seriously?).
There’s also talk about songs for a new album. There’s a bit of interpretation here, as Taste of Country points out, it seems to imply a heartbreak. The problem is that we’re talking about observations back in May. That and the fact that she has not been dating anyone (I tend to believe Taylor when she told Ellen that back in Los Angeles). The bit about a new album coming up in 2012, is not surprising to any fan who knows she’s always writing.
Taylor still shines through the article, but the author feels compelled to bring old news as if nobody knows who she is (including some dirty laundry that the article could’ve done without). If this is an expose it’s quite late. Usually I expect some conclusion or keen observation after being able to see the Outspoken One behind the scenes but none of that happens (the kicker is barely an ending). The article still has some candid moments with Tay, so it’s worth a read at least for those. Go to The New Yorker for the original story, but it’s not complete. You’ll need to read the magazine for the full article.
