Taylor’s Birthday Gift

Taylor celebrated her 20th birthday yesterday (December 13, 2009) with a party at her home for about fifty something guests that included friends, her band (the Agency) and her tour crew.  She baked butter cookies and gingerbread cookies with cream-cheese icing for her guests. Her birthday cake and some mini cupcakes came from Crumbs.

It’s not the way it works, but the biggest gift was the one she gave to several schools she’s either been in or worked with: $250,000.  Yes, that is a quarter of a million dollars. That’s the way it works when you’re talking about the Fearless One. Talk about starting the season of giving by showing everybody else how it’s done.

“Something I wanted to do at the end of this amazing year and especially on my birthday was give back to something I really believe in, which is education,” Swift tells People. “The schools that I went to and the amazing people I got to learn from really turned me into who I am, and I wanted to give back.”

Of course this puts everyone else in a jam as now we’re not going to be able to top that and will have to give to charity when asked. Gee, thanks Taylor. I guess we can’t use the usual “Bah, humbug” response this year. Thanks to you, we will all be smiling when we do it. Not that we would ever dream of topping the girl with a heart the size of the state of Tennessee.

She probably took a break last Saturday night to watch Taylor Lautner do his hosting gig on SNL. I can guess that although she appreciated the sentiment, she’s ready to leave the VMA-incident-related jokes behind at this point.

The Fearless one also had the chance to catch a meal at the Pancake Pantry in Nashville with her close friend (what?) from  the Twilight saga at Nashville’s Pancake Pantry. Here’s the original article at the Tennessean.com on that tidbit but there are no pictures yet.

You can see Taylor (the thankfully still curly one) on her SNL appearance again on Saturday, December 26.
