The ACM Awards Recap

Hello Taylor Nation, so if you saw the ACM Awards you know what this entry’s about. Taylor Swift, the Fearless One, didn’t win any awards tonight.

  • Entertainer of the Year went to Carrie Underwood.
  • Top Female Vocalist of the Year went to Miranda Lambert
  • Song of the Year went to Lady Antebellum for Need You Now
  • Video of the Year went to Miranda Lambert for White Liar

I want to congratulate them all and say it was a battle well fought and you certainly deserved it. Entertainer of the Year was fan voted so we, as in we the Taylor Nation, were not strong enough in numbers as Carrie Underwood’s fans. Well played.

Taylor Swift did perform in the broadcast. She appeared in a hanging balcony that was hoisted above the crowd and carried her from one end to the other. She then descended, switched from a white gown into a black bustier with pants and walked down the stairs in similar fashion to the Hey Stephen number she does on her Fearless Tour. After that she joined her band and the Tritones group and finished the song with a long note that lasted about a minute and a stage dive. Her performance was great, several notches above the Grammy duet. Unfortunately, I know critics will tear it apart for any mistakes or anything less than a pitch perfect performance.

Thanks to knmcma for posting!

Sadly, Gloriana didn’t get Top New Artist Award, that went to Luke Bryan. They retain their Top New Vocal Group award and got to perform Wild At Heart.

Things I did love from the awards:

  • Taylor Swift performing with the Tritones. Julianne Hough who was a presenter just after the performance made sure everybody knew who they were. After Taylor’s stage dive she was carried away and was shaking hands and high-fiving people as she went by.
  • Lady Antebellum won Song of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Single Record of the Year.
  • Miranda Lambert got Album of the Year for Revolution. I was cheering for Lady Antebellum or Brad Paisley but still, well deserved. She got Top Female Vocalist and mentioned everyone in the category saying she couldn’t believe she won (including Taylor)
  • Brad Paisley got Top Male Vocalist. Also Brad had the best finish ever as he dropped into a pool of water after his performance of his song, Water.
  • Taylor Swift was smiling through the night. She fist-pumped as Cher came out, she applauded on her feet for every time someone won an award she was nominated for and she hugged Carrie Underwood when she won Entertainer of the Year. Carrie did hug every single other nominee on her way to the stage as well.
  • Taylor and Brad had a tweeter moment as Taylor saw him jogging earlier, lowered her car window and shouted “Run, Forrest, run!” and later tweeted about it saying she lived for moments like those. Brad tweeted in later saying he had been “heckled” by Taylor.
  • Carrie Underwood’s performance of Temporary Home was a great one. She ended it with confetti.

Incidentally… and I’m sorry to add this bit of news, but Taylor Swift’s Fearless album was nominated for the Juno Awards tonight and lost against Only By Night from the Kings of Leon. Congratulations to them.

Taylor will be performing June 19 at the filming of Brooks & Dunn: The Last Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The special will air on May 23 on CBS. Taylor’s next stop in the Fearless Tour is April 29 in Lexington, Kentucky.
