The Blonde With The Guitar Who Does Not Need To Be Sparkly To Shine will be at the Billboard Women in Music 2019 event and we’ve got some good news. There’s a livestream. Now, if we’re lucky enough we will not get a region lock on this one and we can watch it throughout. Keep those fingers crossed. Taylor will be on to receive the Woman of the Decade Award.

Now, I know the title of Woman of the Decade ruffles some feathers. All fandoms try to pull for their favorites and for some, the last 10 years they were focused on somebody else. I concede that there’s a number of people that could represent music at some point during the last decade. However, think of the people that actually became the highlight of relevance several times during ten years and the list becomes shorter. It’s hard to think of Taylor Swift not being in that list, very near the top, specially when you think about Women in Music.
There are musical icons to be remembered by the work they’ve done in the past. Sorry for this remark, but not everyone keeps topping the charts, outselling tours and headlining concerts in the present. Taylor has outlived her supposed five minutes of fame. It’s been ten years since the VMA incident. Taylor has won ten GRAMMY awards since then and she’s nominated for three more next year.
The truth is, I know other artist that have a great year. A great two or three years. Decades… Very few. There are artists that I respect and admire that don’t need to put new craft out every couple of years. There are some that do but have only peaked one or twice and are mostly remembered for their hits. Taylor’s got a lot of albums where people know every song and, even more amazing, a lot of people that know every song of her albums.
