It’s been waiting for you, Taylor Nation!
Welcome to New York is available! Wait did I download the wrong thing? What music is this? Did the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar just made a play for the dance floor? This song could very much be taking over clubs all over the world. Like any great song, it makes you wanna dance.
Definitely a strong 80’s vibe mixed with synthesizers, the Queen of Sparks is not playing around. This is a calculated takeover of pop music. She’s not trying to shyly slip in the door, she’s actually defining the genre herself. Yes, it’s a throwback to the past and might just cause a trend. There’s also a clear message of acceptance, “and you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls.”
One line review: It’s amazing. Not in the same way of “Out Of The Woods” or “Shake It Off” but totally compatible with them both. I’ve starting to hear the “sonic cohesiveness” that will be Taylor’s trademark in the next two years.
Here’s an official preview of the song:
Oh, lyrics via Taylor of course 🙂
Welcome To New York
Written by Taylor Swift and Ryan Tedder Produced by Ryan Tedder, Taylor Swift, and Noel ZancanellaWalking through a crowd
The village is aglow
Kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats
Under coats
Everybody here wanted something more
Searching for a sound we hadn’t heard before
And it saidWelcome to New York
It’s been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It’s been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New YorkIt’s a new soundtrack I could dance to this beat, beat
Forevermore
The lights are so bright
But they never blind me, me
Welcome to New York
It’s been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New YorkWhen we first dropped our bags
On apartment floors
Took our broken hearts
Put them in a drawer
Everybody here was someone else before
And you can want who you want
Boys and boys and girls and girlsChorus
Like any great love
It keeps you guessing
Like any real love
It’s ever changing
Like any true love
It drives you crazy
But you know you wouldn’t change Anything, anything, anythingChorus

And here’s the video of T explaining the song! Yes, I did post this already but I thought it deserved an encore.
