This is one Mean country song. Okey you need some links. Here’s how you get it:
I know some Swifties prefer to wait until Speak Now is released on October 25. No problems.
You can definitely see a little spark against certain non-constructive and non-professional criticism she’s received. Reminds me of her quote from a recent Billboard article:
“I care about what everyone thinks of me, and I’m not afraid to say that,” she told Billboard. “There have been times when it’s absolutely leveled me and ruined my day. Then there are times when I can hear it and I’m kind of like, ‘Oh, I’ve heard that before,’ and I just continue on with my day.”
Talking about another common criticism she receives about her songs not being Country enough, from the same source, Nathan Chapman, her producer, said:
“When we were making these songs, it was ‘What does this song need?’ as opposed to ‘How far can we push the line on one genre or the other?’ ” He describes Mean, which features fiddle and banjo prominently, as “the most country-sounding thing she’s ever done.”
