Hello Taylor Nation!
There were so many moments last night at the 45th Annual CMA Awards. Here’s some highlights.
The Enchantress was, as usual, late. Here at the Swift Agency, one guy who’s still a few hours short of sleep, we blame the cat. She made it when the red carpet stream was closing up, but still managed to make an entrance!
The oyster J. Mendel gown fitted her perfectly and I loved the hair. She tends to wear it up on awards, but last night it was halfway there with some curls dropping for effect. Now if you excuse me for a second I have to get a beer, watch hockey and perhaps storm a castle or two…
The show opened with Blake Shelton later joined by Kenny Loggins for a new version of Footloose. Blake mentioned the song got botched a bit on Twitter with his usual candor.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood came out for their introduction as the show’s hosts and a joke or two. I can’t guarantee this video will stay up! Have a laugh π
Here’s the Blonde With The Sparkly Guitar… with a not really sparkly guitar. It’s her custom koa model. Although Tay’s most famous guitar in mainstream media is the sparkly one, the koa is Taylor’s guitar by excellence. Her performance is off to a bit of a rocky start, but manages to recover and finishes beautifully.
Other artists didn’t fall behind. Faith Hill taking the stage to sing Come Home. This was her first time performing on stage at the CMA Awards in five years.
Winners of the Vocal Group of the Year, here is Lady Antebellum singing We Own The Night!
The amazing live performance of Remind Me with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
And finally, the climatic moment of the night. The Always and Forever Fearless One winning the coveted Entertainer of the Year award. This made me so happy.
I did see the possibility of this happening. Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton were strong this year. Jason’s album is at the top of the country charts right now with three very strong singles playing on the radio. Blake has been doing The Voice as well as garnering a following with his crazy tweets (all positive! I follow him) not to mention his Honey Bee single. However, when Jason won for Album of the Year that allowed Blake to get Male Vocalist. With all the recent exposure, Blake was actually Taylor’s biggest competition for Entertainer of the Year, but since he already got an award that means the only way Taylor would not get Entertainer is if she had gotten Female Vocalist…
Simple, right? Everybody got that? Can you explain it back to me then… I got lost somewhere.
Seriously though, the Queen of Sparks is the only woman in 30 years to ever win Entertainer of the Year twice. Before her it was Barbara Mandrell. Just another milestone for the Sparkly Dressed π
Here’s the Outspoken One getting interviewed by the press backstage after her win.
Did you know that the American Music Awards voting ends this Friday, November 11? The Enchantress has been announced to perform at the awards ceremony on November 2o. Donβt forget to vote for Taylor Swift for Artist of the Year, Country Music Favorite Female Artist and Country Music Favorite Album.
Also don’t forget to vote for the Peopleβs Choice Awards 2012 that air January 11. Taylor is nominated for Favorite Country Artist, Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Tour Headliner.
Finally I’ll mention a minor milestone of mine. This blog is now two years old today. The first blog entry was back in November 10, 2009. It got four hits and I was excited that four people had found my site. Now the site gets about… well, I don’t want to brag. Let’s just say a bit more than that π

I didn’t think Taylor got off to a bad start on Ours. For a live performance she did great. I think her hand slipped once and hit the guitar. That video is one of my favorites already. Supposedly they did a music video of Ours already but I say this video could be better. How about more live performances? What was great about this video is she really used her eyes a lot. The whole song. I can’t wait to get the CD+DVD and get more live songs by Taylor. All singers need to release live albums. I miss that. Back when I was a kid, in the 70’s and 80’s, they released a lot more live music.
