Hello Country Music fans,
The 2012 CMT Music Awards took place last night, June 6, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. Produced by MTV Networks, the show rewards music videos exclusively. Carrie Underwood was the big winner with Video of the Year for Good Girl. Luke Bryan won Male Video of the Year for I Don’t Want This Night To End and Miranda Lambert took home Female Video of the Year for Over You.
I was attending, but going into the mosh pit I was warned not to bring a camera. Although in the end some people did and got in anyways, I had to rely on my old phone and therefore I give you the blurs you see here. That’s Willie Nelson performing with Toby Keith, Darius Rucker, Zac Brown and Jamey Johnson.
Group Video went to Lady Antebellum’s We Owned The Night. They were joined by Hot Chelle Rae for the opening number of the night. Duo Video was won by Thompson Square’s I Got You.

Here at the Swift Agency, still one guy who’s glad for yesterday but could sleep for a week, we started the day a lot earlier pursuing the elusive mosh pit bracelet. I finally ended up with a pit ticket, which was much better. I must say I find the organization a bit lacking when it comes to the mosh waiting line. Somehow we were led in close to an hour before the show after spending three hours outside in a line that turned into a blur real quick. It’s all part of the experience, of course. I must say it was enjoyable once the show started.
Following the usual rule of MTV Networks, the awards went to the people attending. Although the Sparkly Dressed didn’t get any awards, I still think it was an enjoyable night. I was glad to see Luke Bryan win Male Video and break up the current Female-goes-to-Miranda-Male-goes-to-Blake trend that seems to sweep every award. It was also very nice to see Carrie back on the stage and win a big award with Good Girl.
