And I can’t hear one single word they say. An editorial

Hello Taylor Nation! Today, we’re going to talk about the number thirteen. Did you know… ?

Just kidding. We here at the Swift Agency, one guy with a bunch of ninjas that never show up to help with the laundry (or anything else for that matter), tend to pass on any news that don’t really sound like they’ve been properly confirmed.

Case and point, Us Magazine‘s story about Taylor buying her parents a new property. I’m quite sure they have a house in Hendersonville. If it turns out that Andrea and Scott are moving, that’s another story. Anyways, I chose to mention this (which remains a rumor) simply because it’s more or less a harmless rumor, but it still comes from “a source close to Taylor Swift.” For all I know, it could be true. I just don’t have a reliable source.

I hardly bother with stories that are reported like that simply because even talking about them helps propagate them. That one is harmless (and propagated enough already) but in the past there are other “inside sources” that have been quoted to bring up stories about Taylor that were never true. Doing rumor control on those stories still keeps highlighting them.

Then there are the stories that are true but are centuries old. Ok, ok, not centuries old but really everyone knows them. The recent thread that I keep finding in my newsfeed about Taylor not posing nude, for example. How is that news?

Of course I know why sites run that one. You can change the title into a question or imply the contrary just to get people to click on the link… It’s really tabloid-level journalism. Enticing readers with a misleading title is something I’d hardly consider professional. Then again, I am not a professional journalist.

Or am I?

In a bit of real news, Grant Mickelson took to Twitter to announce band rehearsals start again tomorrow. Meaning that The Agency is already in band rehearsals! May 27 can’t come fast enough.

  1. ^ I agree. I love your website, it’s fantastic in terms with keeping up with Miss Swift and what she’s been doing. Thank-you for all the work you do! 🙂
