Hello Taylor Nation!
You will find that I don’t really like endorsing contests, personal projects or commercial ventures even if they have a Taylor flavor unless they are directly endorsed by Taylor. But once in a while you find a project that seeks to help other people for the sake of helping without any ulterior motives.
The13thWish.tumblr.com is an idea from the team behind @TSwiftOnTour where you nominate a fan to receive a Taylor Swift-inspired gift that they themselves cannot afford. I love the fact that you nominate somebody else (I guess you can nominate yourself as well, but it works best if you do it for someone else). You can also donate gifts if you feel so inclined.
I’ve seen so many ideas about people looking out for themselves that a site dedicated to giving a fellow fan some joy sounds revolutionary. It’s actually basic kindness, and I think it should be encouraged. They’re starting small and local, but I believe Taylor would be very proud.

I’ve been toying with the idea of fan spotlight for a while (yes, another of those Cutting Room Floor ideas). Over the course of this year, there’s been more than a few fan projects that have turned out to be great ideas and it seems they could use some exposure. Let me get this straight though, I don’t believe myself to be particularly more popular than other sites, but I do believe that I owe it to my small but very cool audience 😉 to not just randomly plug stuff from other people.
On other news, the CMA Awards are coming up! Here’s Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley at a recent press conference talking about their roles and trading jokes with the press.
