Drop everything now.
The CMA Fest 2011, which takes place in Nashville from June 9 to June 12, has a new performer and it’s none other than the Sparkly Dressed herself. Taylor Swift will be the closing act at the nightly concert in LP Field on Sunday, June 12. She literally closes the show.
If you need to search the room for an empty seat, go to CMAFest.com. We here at the Swift Agency, one guy that has to figure out how to fit a bunch of ninjas in a suitcase, have our tickets already. Hope to see you there 🙂
The festival celebrates its 40th birthday. ABC will film the performances for a special to air later in the year.
“Taylor has been a strong supporter of CMA Music Festival since she burst on the national scene a few years ago, and we are thrilled to welcome her back,” commented the CMA CEO, Steve Moore. “As we celebrate 40 years of CMA Music Festival, it is exciting to see Taylor and all our performers continue the legacy of Fan Fair which spotlights the unique relationship between Country Music artists and their fans.”
I’ve heard about CMT announcing the Mean premiere on TV this Friday, but unfortunately I don’t have a source for this bit. I’ll do another announcement later in the week as soon as CMT posts it somewhere on their site. If it weren’t for Taylor we wouldn’t even know.
And Universal Music France has caused quite a stir by showing a video for Story Of Us that is supposed to be the European version made of clips from the European leg of the Speak Now Tour. So, this is not THE official version, but I know you want to see it anyway. Note: It does go inside a Speak Now Tour concert, so watch at your own risk!
Coming up in the Calendar!
- May 6: Mean video premiere!
- May 22: The Billboard Music Awards 2011 air live on ABC at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT.
- May 27: Elizabeth Huett‘s Birthday.
- May 27: Speak Now tour in Omaha, Nebraska at Qwest Center. Sold Out.

Hi! I’m pretty sure that this is the real, official video actually. It says copyright Big Machine Records at the end. And just because a country in Europe got it before the US doesn’t mean that this isn’t the real deal. I believe Taylor might have said that she was shooting two videos because if she said she was shooting one video and “putting together clips and photos” for the other one would ruin the surprise. And we all know how she feels about surprises. 🙂
And after all, it’s about The Story Of Us!
I might be wrong but I do believe that this is the real deal! It makes sence to me. I’m sorry for anyone being dissapointed. But you have a brand new video coming this friday to look forvard to!
(And btw, I’m in the video! At 4:02)
While I acknowledge that Taylor’s done this sort of thing before (the video for Fearless…), I don’t think this is one of those times. The video looks puts more of an emphasis on the tour than the lyrics, and Taylor is very much lyrically centric in mindset. Furthermore, tours are always described as an amazing and wonderful experience by Taylor. This song, however, has a very negative connotation, so it wouldn’t make sense to immortalize a wonderful experience together with a song about a crappy one. My opinion, this was likely the european division of UMG using their contractual rights to Taylor’s material and spitting out marketing collateral using the very successful tour as a medium.
Well I don’t know, man. This video has been airing on MTV. This is the real video!
