We here at the Swift Agency, where we are only one guy who’s freezing up here in Canada, do not make up news. Ever. Sometimes. Just kidding.
Let’s start with what we know. The inaugural (read: first time ever) ACAs will be held tomorrow at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Fox will broadcast the ceremony live from 8pm to 10pm Eastern time for the east coast and will tape-delay it for Pacific Time. The voting period is now closed.
Trace Adkins will be the host for the first time ever event. You can expect a red carpet (or a carpet of some color) and a lot of people from upcoming shows on Fox… I mean, besides the country artists of course.
Taylor Swift is up for three awards: Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year and Touring Artist of the Year. Since this is a fan-voted award and I don’t see any other events scheduled she could (not saying she will) show up. She is not scheduled to perform. Yet. If I were Fox I’d really consider asking (and begging) her to do that. You need to get all the fanbases that you can get watching.
Lady Antebellum and Easton Corbin lead the nominations with seven nods each. Lady A is up for Artist of the Year, Duo or Group Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Need You Now, Single of the Year, Single of the Year by Duo or Group, Music Video of the Year and Music Video of the Year by Duo or Group.
Performing tomorrow night: Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Blake Shelton, Steel Magnolia, Josh Turner and Uncle Kracker. Expected to appear will be Laura Bell Bundy, Rodney Carrington, Jewel, Lady Antebellum, Bret Michaels, Ty Murray, Jeff Dunham, Michael Waltrip and Elliott Sadler.
