There she was again tonight… Taylor, this time using a pale yellow dress by Elie Saab Couture, at the 46th ACM Awards. It was, and I know not everyone might agree, a terrific night. But for the citizens of the Taylor Nation, it was a roller coaster ride to the finish line.
You’d think we’d be used to this by now. But if you were on Twitter or hosting a Swiftie party for Taylor tonight, I swear (and I did swore, I’m sorry about that) every Swiftie follower online was about to have a heart attack. That includes me as well.
Our hosts tonight were Reba McEntire and Blake Lam- I mean, Shelton. Both were up for the part, playing as the usual cheesy but still entertaining part. Blake, not a stranger to go for the risky joke, hit a couple of over-the-top jokes but kept it funny, which is why we’re happy to forgive him.
Yeah there was a joke in Taylor’s direction… actually more like Jake Gyllenhaal’s direction. Taylor was getting ready for her performance and wasn’t at her seat so there was zero reaction.
I’m not going to walk you through every part of the show, but I will let you know this. This was a very well done show. The performances were great. So many highlights, and you can guess mine go with every appearance of the Blond With The Sparkly Guitar but before we get into that, let me mention some top performances: Brad Paisley with Alabama, Carrie Underwood with Steven Tyler, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Ronnie Dunn in his first solo performance at an Awards show, the always amazing Reba McEntire… to name a few. Even the uncertain duet of Rihanna with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles kicked butt.

And the Outspoken One? In what seemed to be the trend of the night, Taylor performed a new single for the first time. And it was Mean! Meaning good. She and The Agency went back to their Country music roots for this one, playing Mean as how it needed to be played. Taylor even undid her hair (didn’t work, she still looked stunning) and took up the banjo. Since Amos Heller was watching at home, on account of recovering from shoulder surgery, Paul Sidoti took up upright bass duties. Caitlin even came out as her alter ego Eunice! We loved the look, the performance and the choice of the song for tonight.
The Album of the Year went to Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now. Congratulations to them. They also won Top Vocal Group of the Year. Miranda Lambert won for Top Female Vocalist as well for Best Song and Single Record of the Year for The House That Built Me. Top New Artist went to The Band Perry. Brad Paisley won a well deserved Top Male Vocalist of the Year. Top Vocal Duo was won by Sugarland.

Taylor applauded each and every one of her fellow artists, and sang along to the tunes, and hugged Lady Antebellum on their win. She was there to enjoy herself. Swifties watching at home were beginning to get anxious. And with just four minutes on the clock, Ryan Seacrest came out and announced the results of the voting. The 2011 ACM Entertainer of the Year is…
…Taylor Swift.
To paraphrase her own words of gratitute to all her fans, we are the best thing that’s ever being hers. If nobody could shut us up in Twitter before, I think there was simply no way to read my timeline for several minutes. Every Swiftie I know had to tweet something and my timeline just flew by at lightspeed. Now we can breathe again.
Long live, Taylor. Long live 🙂
Big shoutout to @Enchanted2MeetU for making me add this video! Take it away Taylor!
